The outer edge inscription reads "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA", "1 DOLLAR", "1990 - 2020". The reverse depicts a Kookaburra sitting on a corrugated roof with the sun rising in the distance. The outer edge inscription reads "AUSTRALAIN KOOKABURRA", "30TH ANNIVERSARY". Perth Mint's "P" mintmark, the weight and fineness are included in the design.
