Coin Design
The reverse design of the coins feature a beautiful prancing springbok, one of South Africa’s national symbols, originally designed and engraved by the famous South African sculptor, Coert Steynberg. The 50th Anniversary mark is notated above the springbok, reading: 1967-2017 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
The obverse depicts the bust of the then president of the Republic, Paul Kruger. The year 2017 marks the 50th year since the striking of the first Krugerrand.
