1oz Gold Bond of the 1970's, 2024 - Coin Design

This coin features the legendary Lotus Esprit S1, nicknamed 'Wet Nellie' that was the main Bond vehicle in 'The Spy Who Loved Me'. The car itself is a staple of the franchise due to it's striking body, full arsenal of gadgets and amphibious nature. The car is presented in its 'submarine' form with wheels retracted and protruding fins. The reverse of the coin centers this legendary vehicle, with a backdrop of micro engraved, popular Bond titles from the 70s. The bold letters of 007 are starkly placed below Wet Nellie and this entire design is encased in the classic rifled barrel that is seen in the Bond opening sequences. Around the edge of the coin is inscribed "BOND OF THE 70S · FINE GOLD · 1OZ 999.9 · 2024". The obverse of the coin features the generic obverse from similar coins of the year from The Royal Mint. Martin Jennings's effigy of King Charles III is the centre piece, with the characters "CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 100 POUNDS" around the edge.
