First established in1961 as Valori & Cambi by a group of Swiss businessmen.  In 1967 Credit Suisse bought 50% of the refinery and the name was changed to Valcambi.  By 1980 Credit Suisse owned 100% of the refinery.  European Gold Refineries SA purchased the total refinery in 2003.
