The Sea Venture, launched in 1609 was the 300 tonne, seventeenth-century English sailing flagship of The London Company.  She was unusual due to being single timbered, with the guns on the main deck rather than below and for being the first dedicated emigration vessel.  Popular belief is this ship was the inspiration for William Shakespeare's play The Tempest.
