The 1oz Silver Aztec Calendar Round features a depiction of the ancient Aztec calendar stone with the sun god Tonatiuh at its centre on its reverse. The obverse features a portrait of the last of the Aztec Emperor of Tenochtitlan, Cuauhtémoc wearing a traditional Aztec headdress. Also included on the obverse is a border of Aztec pattern as well as the metal purity, weight and the monetary denomination. The Aztec Sun Calendar, the Xiuhpōhualli (agricultural calendar), is based on the sun and comprises of eighteen months each with twenty days with a separate five day period at the end of the year. This calendar is not based on the moon like modern calendar systems but by the days. The Aztecs also had a religious ritual calendar called the Tōnalpōhualli (sacred calendar).
