1oz Silver Libertad Coin

1oz Silver Libertads are Mexico's national Silver Bullion coins. Libertads have rapidly gained popularity in recent years all around the world but especially in The United States which had made them more and more difficult to come by due to their traditionally low mintages. Each Libertad coin is produced from .999 metal and contains one full troy ounce of fine silver bullion.

Silver Libertad Coin Design

The design of the Libertad shows the  Greek goddess Victoria on the Mexican Independence Victory Column.  The distant volcanic mountains of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl hold, according to legend, the final resting place of Princess Iztaccihuatl. The princess died during the Mexican Independence War after a story similar to that of Romeo and Juliet. She was in love with the enemy warrior Popocatepetl but, because of the disagreements between their families, they were never able to be together. Again not unlike Juliet, Princess Iztaccihuatl's death was caused by a broken heart when she heard that he had been killed in battle but it is said that to this day, the warrior still keeps a watchful eye over her grave.
