The 2018 Silverback Gorilla is the fourth release in the popular series issued by the Republic of Congo in partnership with the U.S.-based Scottsdale Mint. Struck from 1oz of .999 fine silver with a proof-like BU finish, this edition has a limited mintage of just 75,000 coins.

Unlike earlier issues that highlighted the gorilla’s power and ferocity, the 2018 design captures the quieter, more thoughtful nature of a mature silverback. The close-up head and shoulder view showcases striking detail, framed by border markings, with inscriptions noting “Congo Silverback Gorilla”, weight, purity, and date. The reverse carries the crest of the Republic of Congo and official face value.
