The Krugerrand was the world’s first bullion coin, at the time bearing exactly 1 troy ounce of fine gold. Krugerrands are meticulously crafted from 22 carat pure gold to create a superior finish.

Krugerrand Coin Design

The reverse design of the coins feature a beautiful prancing springbok, one of South Africa’s national symbols, originally designed and engraved by the famous South African sculptor, Coert Steynberg. The obverse depicts the bust of the then president of the Republic, Paul Kruger. The year 2016 marks the 50th year since the striking of the first Krugerrand (although the coin only became available in 1967). This Krugerrand bullion range is available through Bleyer in 1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/10 oz coins which bear the same obverse and reverse design as the original 1967 coins.
