The Iranian Gold Half Pahlavi Coin reverse side depicts an image of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi looking to the left, with the date underneath. The obverse of the coin shows a coat of arms, a crown above a lion holding a sword with a wreath of olive and oak tree below. Half Pahlavi coins were minted from 1892 to 1979. Until March 25th 1925, Persia (Iran) used the Muslim lunar calendar it then switched to a solar one. Then from 1976 to 1978, it changed to a monarchical calendar system, before reverting back to the previous solar one.
